It's June 2021 ... how are we doing and how can you help?

Dear fellow bunny lovers,

Everyday we receive applications from people wanting to surrender their pet bunny. So far, this year, we have received 600 applications

Sadly, we are unable to take all these bunnies into our care, but we do take as many as we can. Bunnies in emergency situations, those found on the street or abandoned at rental residences are our first priority.

Almost every bunny that we take into our care needs medical attention. Mostly, they need dental work, and most of them need to be de-sexed. Some female bunnies have already had multiple litters by the time they are given away or abandoned.

Toof had severely overgrown teeth and was stuck at a council pound in Sydney.

One of our wonderful volunteer Foster Carers immediately took him in to her care, and we organised surgery for Toof. Dr Alex and his Waterloo team surgically removed Toof’s front teeth so his terrible problem is now solved, and dear little Toof can once again eat and drink properly.

Since his his teeth-extraction surgery, Toof has been de-sexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and has happily been adopted!

Milo was surrendered to us with terribly long incisors. We are not sure how he was able to eat and drink. Murwillumbah Vet Clinic very quickly performed the surgery to remove the teeth, and Milo is now able to eat normally, as a bunny should.

Sadly, Toof and Milo are not alone. There are hundreds of rabbits in similar situations. Some are kept in terrible conditions, some are abandoned, some are brought to the vet to be euthanised, without any fault of their own.

Toof and Milo are examples of why we need the support of people like you, to help us pay our enormous vet bills, provide ongoing care and find a loving home for them. Your tax-deductible gift today, big or small, will help these beautiful, vulnerable creatures, which have so much love to give!

If you donate now at you will receive a tax-deductible invoice for this financial year, 2020-2021. The Rabbit Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organisation, operating from donations only.

I want to thank you in advance for your help and support.

Thank you so much for reading this update.
